About RS
Reed Switzer is a FinTech entrepreneur and product leader. He is the founder of Hopscotch, a B2B payments and cash flow management platform that he scaled from idea to acquisition by Avalara, a multi-billion-dollar tax compliance company. Reed now leads Avalara’s FinTech strategy as General Manager of the Hopscotch business unit.
A New York native, Reed began his career bussing tables at a local diner before co-founding an apparel brand and later joining a music streaming startup as its first operations hire. While studying finance and technology at Wharton, he left school in 2021 to pursue what would become Hopscotch. In just three years, the company raised over $10 million in venture capital, acquired thousands of customers, and exited during one of the most challenging markets in recent memory.
Outside of his professional life, Reed serves on the Board of Trustees at the Windward School, the leading school for children with dyslexia and language-based learning disabilities (he is a proud alum). Reed also enjoys studying new tech and advising early-stage startups.
Reed was named to the Forbes 30 under 30 Finance list in 2023 as one of its youngest honorees.
